The
North Carolina Tuba Consortium is a collective of collegiate tuba and
euphonium professors in the state of North Carolina founded by Dr. Daniel
Johnson at UNC-Wilmington. It was formed to be a teaching and learning
resource for middle and high school band directors. With 13 (and
counting) professional tuba/euphonium teachers spread literally across
the state, it was felt that we could help the secondary band director
with information, teaching techniques, and other ideas for making more
music with their low brass players.
The first public function of the group
was a presentation at the 2007 NCMEA conference. The presentation was
aimed at helping to provide resources for developing low brass chamber
ensembles. There are future presentations planned, and that information
will be published here.
